5th Sunday Singing
The Ebenezer Baptist Church hosted the 5th Sunday Singing recently for the Wood County Baptist Association Members as well as visiting churches. On June 30, 2024, approximately 53 guests attended the singing., Twelve groups of 2 or just one person were introduced from the various churches in attendance. Most of them sang two or more songs, and several of those singers played various instruments as well.
A number of churches attended including Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church; Sharon Baptist; Hainesville Baptist; Ebenezer Baptist; Enon Baptist from Alba; Smith Chapel Methodist; Purley Baptist from Hopkins County; a church from Tyler; and one from Mineola. All guests enjoyed a wonderful list of old-time gospel songs for over two hours.
When the last song “When All of God’s Singers Get Home” concluded, all guests proceeded to the Fellowship Hall where they enjoyed a big spread of assorted sandwiches and sliders, veggies, chips, dips and the makings for nachos. The big hit was the Rotel Sausage Cheese Dip made by Pastor Richard’s and my son, Wayne. In fact, several guests wanted the recipe, and several were seen leaving with take home bowls to enjoy later. It was really that good. If I can get the secret recipe, I will put it on the website.
We want to send out a huge thank you to all those ladies who brought desserts to the singing. And a big thank you also to Robert Ricks who filled in and ran our sound system for our sound system manager who was not able to attend. And we must thank Joe Wayne Reynolds from Hainesville Baptist for filling in and playing our piano for those who needed music for their songs. We at Ebenezer are in dire need of a Piano Player.
The next 5th Sunday Singing will be hosted by Pilgrim’s Rest #2 on September 29, 2024 so mark your calendars.
